James from WA, advises me the more solid and bulky lower control arms (which look as if the would survive a nuclear blast) sometimes called force seven arms were introduced after the world cup rally when leyland looked at stress/weak points in the car highlighted by the rigors of the world cup event.
Does anyone know about these control arms?

Hello Mick,
You mention the beefy "Force 7" lower arms.
I have seen a few, and they may be stronger but they are fitted with thinner rubber bushes in the inner end, and these tend to wear out much faster than the early ones.
Hal Moloney will be able to tell you about the difference on his rally cars.
Regards,
Jilden
