X6 UTE

The car that caught my eye more was the X6 ute that was also doing time inside the factory.
I had seen the Ute during 1977 or '78. It was used at the facility on Heathcote Rd (Spare parts store, experimental engineering and eventtually where they built Land Rovers) as a general run around.
For a few days I was sent out there with a few other apprentices to prepare/move cars they
were transporting out, mostly Dolomite Sprints.
We used the X6 ute to carry fuel, batteries/jumper leads and tools around the yard to get the long stored cars going.
It was already pretty rough then.
In the couple of years before that, a friend of my fathers used to drive it everyday in his job delivering parts from Heathcote Rd around the dealerships in Sydney. I remember he smashed the front at one stage.
He's no longer around to ask.

X6 Ute can be seen in the background above the Force 7 roof.

I've often thought about building one, it wouldn't be too difficult.
Take one X6 and one MK2 1800 ute and do a Cut and Shut through the front
pillars/floor at an appropriate join.
