- Hi Adrian,
- The boat is a 6m (20') Swiftcraft Explorer Halfcabin (fibreglass) built by Swiftcraft in Victoria in the 1980s. The heat exchanger is mounted above the port side rockercover and the oil filter is remote mounted on a bracket with the ignition coil on the forward starboard corner of the enging. There are two engine mounting points on a specially cast alloy "flywheel case". The Watercooled exhaust manifolds are by Repco - it gives me the impression that this was an excursion by Repco into the Marine market at the time.
- The jet intake is fibreglass being moulded with the hull with an AMEC (Australian Maritime Engineering Corporation - Victoria based) jet propulsion unit comprising a 227mm diameter impellor with a periferal nozzle, steering vane and thrust reversing bucket.
- The boat will do about 40 knots (75 km/h) using about half the fuel an outboard would to achieve the same performance.
- Attached is a speadsheet that interpolates the boats performance and a photo of me at the helm.
- regards,
- Murray Peterson
