Life of Michael

Tributes

With deep regret I inform all our family and friends that Michael passed away this morning Sunday 22nd Ocober 2006
Gwen Livingstone

from Damien

There was a turnout of over 200 people for Michaels funeral yesterday.
Many from Cootamundra, but also people who had travelled some distance to attend.
I recognised ten or twelve folks from the P76 movement in the crowd.
The historic car movement were out in force to farewell Michael.
Michael sure loved his cars.
Especially the Model A and the P76. Painted on his coffin were his woody model A and his aspen green targa, among others.
The eulogies from his family and friends all attested to his generosity, good humour, love of family,
community spirit and of course his obsession with cars.
Fittingly, he was carried to the cemetery in a late 60s Black V8 Fairlane hearse and accompanied by a procession of at least 60 historic and vintage cars.
At the front were his family driving his Model A woody, Model A boattail racer, Model A Tudor, Aspen Green Targa and the red Capri he had bought for Gwen to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary a few weeks earlier.
It was truly moving for all that attended.
"I will miss Michael".
I spoke to him less than two weeks ago when we talked about him putting power steering into Gwens car. He said he didnt have the strength anymore to drive a manual steering car.
He and Gwen had been driving to Canberra weekly for (i think) stem cells to be harvested for his treatment.
Every time we met he would ask me when i was going to fix up my car.
If you could all see how immaculately presented his cars were you would understand why he kept ribbing me about my black p76!
Farewell Michael.

Nick

I am saddened to hear about the loss of our great mate Michael.
Deepest condolences to Gwen and the family on whom I consider one of the most passionate and enthusiastic of people that I have met.
The P76 movement has benefitted from his striving for getting the Leylands in the public spotlight and the Cootamundra Country P76 club that he founded which will live on and thrive after such a strong and generous president.
I will miss him deeply and his perserverance for finding the rarest of P76 parts and memorobilia will be surely missed.
Michael's phone calls were always unexpected and very motivational for me and I commend him for his fabulous job of lifting the standard of concourse P76s in this current era when the cars are approaching 33 years old.
I will miss him and he has done the P76 proud.

Michael was a true gentleman and I consider it a privilege to have met both him and Gwen a few times at P76 National's.
I will miss his phone calls to chat about all things P76, he was a huge asset to the P76 in general and is impossible to replace.

Well said Nick.... I think your thoughts echo most others that new Michael.
I have only known Michael & Gwen for a short time ( My loss), but their influence on me will last a life time.
A truly huge loss to Gwen, their family, & all who loved cars ( Not Just the P76.)
Michael, you will be missed by many.
